Beau Martonik, host of the East Meets West Hunt podcast, grew up hunting white-tailed deer in the Appalachian Mountains region of the Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Wilds is the closest thing he's found to true backcountry adventure in the Eastern United States. The valley floors are scattered with hemlock trees, beaver dams and meandering streams. The ridges are covered with big, hardwood timber, clear cuts and impenetrable thickets. If you want to be consistently successful in the big woods in pursuing these mountain whitetails; there’s no shortcuts. It requires a year round approach to studying maps, boots on the ground scouting, running trail cameras, and just plain old persistent hard work. You’re in it for the Long Haul.
